Dr. Michelle Swift Corcoran, DDS
Dentist/Owner
You do not truly understand the meaning of the word passion until you hear Dr. Corcoran talk about dental health! Spend five minutes with her and it is evident dentistry is not just her profession, it’s her calling.
A graduate of Barbe High School in Lake Charles, LA, Dr. Corcoran received her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, and continued on to LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans where she earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. But her education has not stopped there. She continues to seek out continuing education opportunities in order to stay up-to-date on the latest in dental treatment best practices and advances in dental equipment and technology. She is committed to bringing the best in dentistry to her Lake Charles clients, and it shows!
Dr. Corcoran is a devoted Christian, loving wife to Sean, and proud mother of three beautiful children—John Francis, Zizi, and Henry. She is currently on the Board of the Lake Charles Children’s Museum, and she and her family are active members of their church community at Our Lady Queen of Heaven.
Whether it is providing exceptional dental care, wrapping her family and friends in warmth and love, or giving back to the community in meaningful ways, Dr. Corcoran is on a mission to change the world one smile at a time.
Dr. Rhett Thomas Cates
Dentist
Dr. Rhett Thomas Cates has been practicing dentistry for 35 years.
He grew up in Lake Charles but was originally from Converse, Louisiana. His parents, Roy and Mary Cates, were both in education; but Dr. Cates was influenced as a sophomore at Barbe High School by a biology class teacher and decided then that the medical field was his calling. He graduated from Barbe High School in 1976 and then attended McNeese State University. Upon graduation in 1980, he continued on the on to LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
He opened up his Lake Charles office in 1984 on his own and in 1985 he opened his satellite office in Hackberry, Louisiana to fill a need for a dentist in Cameron Parish.
Dr. Cates’ hobbies include designing landscaping and grafting fruit trees and roses. He is also an avid outdoor enthusiast and of course, an LSU, Saints and Astros fan.
His lovely wife, Joy, has been his office manager for 30 years. His daughter, Charlene Shawa, is a Registered Dental Hygienist in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the proud grandfather of Ben (15) and Emily (13).
Dr. Cates and Dr. Corcoran share the same work ethic of caring dentistry with a personal touch.
Dr. Francis Thompson
Dentist
Dr. Francis Thompson graduated from St. Louis Catholic High School in Lake Charles and attended McNeese State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then went to LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans, Louisiana, and graduated in 2013 with her doctorate of dental surgery.
Dentistry is a natural fit as a profession for Dr. Francis Thompson since it runs in the family – her great, great grandfather graduated from the first dental school to open in the United States, the Baltimore College of Dentistry, in 1908. Dr. Thompson’s dad, Dr. Rick Bercier, graduated from LSU Dental School in 1979 and he is the one who inspired a love of dentistry in her. She finds it very rewarding to be able to restore someone’s dental health – to help get a patient out of pain or to fix a broken tooth so that someone can smile confidently again.
She is married to the most incredible man in the word, Joshua Thompson, and, when she’s not in the office, spends her time enjoying her children – and, of course, brushing and flossing their teeth!
Dr. Kevin Hamilton
Dentist
Dr. Kevin M. Hamilton has been practicing dentistry since 1996 and has a true passion for taking care of patient’s dental needs.
After graduating from Barbe High School in Lake Charles, LA, Dr. Hamilton attended the University of Houston where he majored in Pre-Dentistry then went on to Texas A&M University to major in Biomedical Science, as well as Pre-Dentistry. From there, he continued on the on to LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans, LA, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. With his love for learning, Dr. Hamilton also attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles to receive his I.V./Parenteral Conscious Sedation Certificate.
Dr. Hamilton is married to his high school sweetheart, Dana, and they are the proud parents of their son, Tanner. When not in the office, he enjoys being outdoors, especially when it comes to boating, fishing, hunting, water sports, baseball and football. He also has a huge passion for flying!
We are grateful to have Dr. Hamilton on our team. He is always ready for anything that comes his way, whether it is taking care of his patients needs, fixing things around the office, answering any questions anyone has, along with feeding his team tacos on Tuesdays!
